COVID-19 has brought on so many psychological challenges and at a time when people may feel as though they cannot access mental health services. Please be aware that mental health services are still available during this time. Although you may not be able to meet with a mental health provider in their office, most are offering teletherapy services and most insurances are covering teletherapy services so please call your insurance company to verify that. Your insurance carrier can also give you a list of providers who accept your insurance that is providing teletherapy services.
Here are a few stressors that someone might be experiencing due to COVID-19:
Social isolation and depression (especially for seniors)
Being quarantined with an abuser
Anxiety related to lack of access to food, medical assistance, medications, baby supplies, etc
Financial stressors
Relational stressors
Worries about contracting the virus
Concern for loved ones who have been diagnosed with the virus
